Annual General Meeting

First West's annual general meeting is a great opportunity for members to learn about the credit union's results and future plans, and connect with the board of directors, management and employees.

As specified in First West's rules, annual general meetings are held in one or more locations annually.

In 2018, First West's AGM will be held at The Quality Inn, Abbotsford on May 15 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Members and guests will also be invited to attend a reception at the conclusion of the AGM.

How would you like to make a difference to your credit union and your community?

We are always looking for qualified members who are interested in standing for election to the board. It's an important job – the board oversees the credit union’s operations on behalf of members, providing guidance on long-range objectives, determining policy and monitoring the credit union’s overall progress. First West’s board also encourages expression of interest from candidates who reflect a diversity of ages, genders, geographical locations and ethnicities/cultures.

What does it take? Generally, we’re looking for members with a broad range of business knowledge and depth of experience, as well as an understanding of the principles and values of First West and the communities it serves. You should be able to demonstrate an ability to deal with business, financial and social issues at a corporate level and have a fundamental understanding of the board’s role and responsibility to the credit union. Members will also recognize and appreciate a wide variety of views crucial to decision making in the continually evolving dynamics of the financial industry and good corporate governance.
