Senior Vice-President, Credit
Jim Lamond is responsible for credit policy, adjudication and recovery at First West. In addition, he provides senior management oversight and adjudication for First West Capital and First West Leasing.
Jim has been in the financial services industry since 1977. He has a broad background in the industry, with expertise in retail lending, branch management, operations, commercial banking, and most recently, credit and risk.
Jim joined Valley First in January 2003 as manager, commercial banking at the Kamloops branch. In 2010, he anchored Valley First’s credit department as vice-president. Over the span of his career, Jim has also put his skills to work for a charted bank and in other corners of the B.C. credit union system. Of note is Jim’s time as a senior account manager for Aboriginal banking in the Thompson-Nicola region for a major chartered bank.
Jim has a Lean black belt, the highest level of Lean certification, and is one of only a handful of black-belted individuals at First West.
Jim has been active in many community ventures, either as a participant or volunteer, and has served on a number of non-profit boards, including time as chair of the Kamloops YM-YWCA. Born in Winnipeg and raised primarily in southern Ontario, Jim is now married with three children and two grandchildren. Jim has been a resident of Penticton since 2007.
