Before making his way to Monk Office, a family business that is Vancouver Island’s largest office products provider and the largest independent stationer in British Columbia, James earned his civil engineering degree from Queen’s University. Since 1990 James has served the family business in the capacity of president and chief executive officer.
James has served on a host of boards at both the national and local levels, including the Board of Governors of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business and industry related boards. Closer to home, James has served on the board of the Entrepreneurial Learning Foundation, the Greater Victoria Hospital Foundation Patron’s Council, Victoria Symphony, the Shawnigan Lake Residents Association and the Camosun College Young Building Restoration Committee.
James served on the Island Saving Credit Union board from 2006 to 2014, with the last two years as board chair. On Jan. 1, 2015 James was appointed to the First West board. James currently serves as vice-chair of the Conduct Review and Governance Committee and also serves on Human Resources committees.
